Service Above Self
"The Greatest Good for the Greatest Number."  Aristotle's well-known "Golden Mean."  That describes what Service Above Self nominees demonstrate with their volunteer efforts.

Much has changed on our community since the first awards were given in 1968, and that includes changes to this year's categories for nominees.  You can nominate someone now for the time spent at special events; e.g. Stroll on State; for community issues like decreasing the crime rate; or activities; e.g., March for Our Lives.

We all know someone who deserves to be nominated.

April 30 is the deadline for nominations for 2018.  Nomination forms and previous honorees are on the Rockford Rotary website under Membership.

RYLA Volunteers
The annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards are the first weekend of May in Oregon.  Rockford Rotarians should consider either stopping by on Saturday sometime or, if you can,  coming in to work for a couple hours or even staying the night.  The food is good the 100+ kid's are amazing.  You'll be refreshed and rejuvenated.

We could use two Rockford female Rotarians and  two Rockford male Rotarians to help with some of the events and also to chaperone in the evening if you care to stay.   Please contact Jim Nelson for the details. It's first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of May in Oregon.  Starts with dinner on Friday night and ends about noon on Sunday.

For more information, or to volunteer, contact John Torrence  - johntor@comcast.net

New Membership Dues Option for Spouses and Partners
The Rockford Rotary Board, on January 23rd, approved a new membership dues option for Spouses and Partners who want to join Rockford Rotary together.  With this new policy prospective new members have three ways to join Rotary: as an individual; in a Corporate group; or with their spouses or partners.  Potential members, regardless of which category, must still be sponsored by a current Rockford Rotary member, complete the club's application and be approved for membership.  All members are expected to support the goals and objects of Rotary through service at the club and district level, as well as, through annual giving to The Rotary Foundation and Polio Now fund.

The goal of these additional membership options is to attract new members, allowing Rockford Rotary to more in both our local and global communities. The more people to help, the more we can DO GOOD IN THE WORLD.

Both of these policies can be found at http://www.Rockfordrotary.org under the Members Only tab, but can be accessed without a password.

District Information Now Included on Mobile App

ClubRunner announced the release of an all-new ClubRunner mobile app that now includes both Club and District Information. The App is available through Google Play Store and the Apple App store for you smart phone or iPad.  All you need to do is search for ClubRunner (The logo will be a white CR with the blue background).  Note: If you are already using the ClubRunner App you will need to update the app or reinstall the latest version to get these features.

When you install this app you will be asked to sign in with your Rockford Rotary member log in and password. After you log in you will automatically be connected to the both the Rockford Rotary and District Directory. In addition to the Rockford Rotary information you will now be able to view District Executives, stories and up coming events.

Another exciting feature is the ability to access the District's club directory from your phone.  You can check out a club's meeting time/day, upcoming events and executives. It just got easier to find neighboring clubs for make-ups or coordinating communication for projects.

From time to time you will need to refresh the app to ensure you have access to the latest information, including new club members.

To learn more about this app you can watch a youtube clip at: https://youtu.be/eAqGVrHj25E or to learn more about the new District Features go to the clubrunner blog: https://iloveclubrunner.blogspot.ca/2018/01/introducing-clubrunner-district-mobile.html
