Taking on the Challenge of High Drug Prices and Poor Health Outcomes - A Perspective from the Front Lines.

In May 2017, after 12 years as Mayor of the City of Rockford, Lawrence J. Morrissey joined Marathon Health as Vice President of Government Sales and Relations.  During Morrissey's time in office, he helped drive population approaches and behavior health interventions to efforts like ending Veterans homelessness and reducing violent crime.  The City also turned around a multi-million dollar employee health fund deficit into a surplus and took on the challenge of reducing pharmaceutical costs.  He now applies his experience assisting local governments and private employers who are driving grassroots healthcare revolution.  Marathon Health clinics serve over 330,000 members at over 150 sites in 42 states where they pursue the Healthcare Triple Aim of better patient experience, better health outcomes, and lower cost.

As the title indicates, Larry will talk about high drug prices and what Marathon Health is doing to try and lower the prices.  This will be an excellent opportunity to bring a guest of prospective member.  Mary Ann Norwood will introduce our presenter and act as Rotary host.
