Hawaiian Volcano Experience

Holly Johnson is a long time member of Rotary and is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Byron, IL.  I transferred my member ship to Pahoa Sunset Rotary Club when my husband and I moved to the Big Island of Hawaii.  I continued my Rotary membership when we moved to Sedona, Arizona.
Holly grew up in a rural community on Northern Illinois.  My husband, Bob and I met in high school and got married in 1974.  I graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy and practiced my profession for 37 years in Rockford, Illinois with most of the years working with children with disabilities.
Bob and Holly have always loved Hawaii and we moved there in 2012.  We loved the culture and took Hawaii language, hula, and Ukulele classes.  The volcanic eruption destroyed our home and belongings in May 2018.  After several months of traveling around the country in pursuit of a new home, we found Sedona and moved there in October of 2018.
Holly will talk about her adventures in Hawaii and about the volcanic eruption that forced them to abandon their dream of living in Hawaii and their move to Sedona.  This will a most interesting program and one that you will want to invite a friend or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via Zoom by forwarding them the Zoom invite information.  Elaine Breck will introduce our speaker and act as Rotary host.
