Natural Land Institute

Kim Johnsen, Director of Marketing & Membership for Natural Land Institute, will give a presentation about the non-profit land trust's history and mission, and one of their newer initiatives, Conservation@Home. This is a program that inspires and empowers homeowners and business owners (Conservation@Work) to implement native habitat and good conservation practices on their land, which provides more natural habitat linkages between protected lands and urban and rural communities to benefit plants and animals.
Kim lives in Rockford, Illinois, where she grew up. She has been the Director of Marketing & Membership for Natural Land Institute since 2011. Prior to this Kim worked for WTVO-Channel 17, River District Association and Clock Tower Dinner Theatre.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts (Speech/Theatre) from Judson University and is a Certified Master Naturalist through the University of Illinois Extension program.
As a Master Naturalist, Kim volunteers for land stewardship activities and nature education programs. She serves the children in the community as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Rockford (since 2012) and has been a member of the City of Rockford’s Zoning Board of Appeals and Liquor and Tobacco Advisory Board since 2014.
Kim is married with no children and loves learning new things - especially about the natural world. She enjoys cooking, gardening, writing, drawing, reading, and taking nature hikes.
