Cannabis Industry in the Rockford Area
Erik Carlson is a founder and general Counsel for Sustainable Innovations, Inc., a cannabis and hemp company located in Rockford.
Sustainable Innovations is unique amongst cannabis businesses in Illinois in that it has focused on the promotion of education in the industry. Through its partnership with Kishwaukee College, it offers hands-on vocational classes at its facility for students wishing to obtain a "Careers in Cannabis Certification".
Before launching this business, he was a partner at Brassfield, Krueger & Ramlow, where he devoted his practice to civil litigation. He and his wife, Amanda, are lige-long Rockford residents, and happy to be raising their 3 children here.
Erik's presentation is entitled: The Cannabis Industry in Illinois, tracking the successes and failures of an emerging industry.
Topics for the presentation will include:
- An explanation of th rollout of recreational cannabis in Illinois
- The disappointment with social equity applicants and unforeseen delays
- The complicated legal issues at play in the cannabis and hemp industries
