PETS Project

Midwest PETS Project

We need these items to be brought to Memorial Hall on February 20th so Paul Von Driska can take them to PETS on the 28th.

This is the service project for Midwest PETS. As a way to support Rotary's area of focus (Maternal & Child Health), we are partnering with employees of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP / their offices are adjacent to the conference hotel) to collect items for New Moms, a Chicago-area non-profit that supports new mothers and young families.

Together, the six Rotary Districts and AAP employees will bring items that the New Moms organization has recommended as most helpful for their clients

Please consider picking up a few items for this organization.

  • Items need to be new and unwrapped.
  • Our District will be contributing Gender-Neutral Children's Clothing ages 6 and under including:
    • Potty training underwear
    • Onesies - various sizes
    • Socks
    • Hair accessories
  • There will be a truck at the entrance of the hotel with volunteers to receive our items on Friday, February 28th, the first day of Midwest PETS.

LET'S FILL THE TRUCK!

Vocational Talk - Tom Huber

Tom Huber joined Rockford Rotary on March 28, 2024.  Since he will be giving a "Vocational Talk", we won't give any more details about his life.  We would encourage you to show up on the 27th and find out for yourself.
These talks are always interesting, informative, and entertaining and a chance to learn about one of our newer members.
We would encourage you to invite a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via Zoom (836 8113 5120 - no password required).

Weekly RI Foundation Message

Each week we will be publishing a message from the Rotary International Foundation.  This week's message is:

WHAT ARE DISTRICT AND GLOBAL GRANTS?

The Rotary Foundation has spent more than US$3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects around the world. Rotary members can work with communities through Foundation grants, and two key options are district and global grants.

District grants fund small-scale, short-term activities that address needs in your community and communities abroad. Your district chooses what activities it will fund with these grants, such as humanitarian projects, scholarships, youth programs, or vocational training teams.

Global grants fund large, international activities with sustainable and measurable results in Rotary’s areas of focus. These can include humanitarian projects, scholarships for graduate-level study, or vocational training teams.

Learn about another kind of grant next week!
