Mollie Pratt Singh had the good fortune to be the daughter of Patricia and Eric Pratt, the original owners and builders of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pratt House at the Acres, outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

     Mollie came to Rockford to attend Rockford University, met her husband here, and raised her two sons here, and taught in the public schools here. Now retired, she is a docent at Rockford’s very own Laurent House and invites you all to join her for a tour there soon! 

     As you can see from the picture above, the Pratt House at the Acres is fantastic and who wouldn't want a waterfall running through their house.  This will be a program that you will want to bring a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via Zoom.

     Elise Cadigan will introduce Mollie and act as Rotary host. 

     

 

     The February 20th meeting is set aside for Committee meetings.  Committee chairs will contact their members to remind them of the meeting.  If you are not assigned to a specific committee, feel free to join us for lunch and sit in on a committee meeting.

     Our February 6th program was a road trip across the street for a tour of the new library.  Lynn Stainbrook gave a very informative program about the design of the library and how they tried to incorporate as many of the ideas that the public wanted to see in a library.  Afterwards Lynn gave some of us a tour which was also very informative.

     The Service Above Self Awards will be awarded on Thursday, March 13th. I am already receiving nominations, but if you have someone or an organization that you would like to nominate, please get it in to me by February 13th. We need time to review the nominations and to plan the ceremony. 

     Do you know someone who either has shown great volunteer leadership or who has given generously of their time to many organizations? Maybe they deserve to be recognized for their extraordinary volunteer contributions. The Service Above Self Award is designed to recognize individuals in the Rockford community who have gone "above and beyond" in serving Rockford in a volunteer capacity, people who are making a difference in our community.

     We also recognize a nonprofit organization who has made an expecially great contribution to Rockford in the past year. Are you proud to associated with a special organization? You may want to shine a light on their achievements by nominating that organization for an award.
