Dan Wykes is the part-time Educator at the Byron Museum of History, a position he has held since January of 2013.  He also has been with Midway Village Museum since May of 2010 on a part-time basis.  His profession was a Senior Media Analyst/Designer at Sundstrand from 1984 until 2009.  He served the various business units in developing effective written and visual communications.  Since his retirement from Sundstrand, he has worked as a consultant specializing in marketing support and graphic design. 

     Dan received a BFA in Illustration, graphic design, photography and typography from Michigan State University and Masters Certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications from Southern New Hampshire University.  Besides Midway Village and Byron Museum, Dan has worked with Golden Apple of Rockford and the Haiti Project Inc.  

     This program will be both interesting and informative so we would encourage our members to plan to attend and to bring a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via Zoom.  Dave Byrnes will introduce our presenter and act as Rotary host. 

 

     Rotary District 6420 presented their two Global Scholars for the next school year at a press conference held at Memorial Hall on September 18th.  Kiki Fisher graduated from Hononegah High School and Bradley University and will be attending the University of Crete Medical School in Greece to pursue a Master of Science in Forensic Medicine, Anthropology, and Imaging.  Mohammed Salem graduated from Auburn High School and Yale University.  He will be attending the University of Oxford in England to pursue a Master of Science in Health System Evaluation and Improvement.  Each of the Scholarships is worth up to $30,000.

     Congratulations to Kiki and Mohammed for their achievements and we wish them the best as they continue their education.  We would also like to thank all of the Rockford Rotarians who showed up for the press conference to show their support for two local students who have bright futures ahead of them.

Rotary Lunches 

 

     We will continue to serve lunches for $12 each week.  We currently are having food from the Sandwich Spot delivered prior to the start of our weekly meeting.  Monica will be more than happy to take your money for lunch.
