December 21st Meeting
Caitlin Treece will present various Victorian Christmas traditions as part of our annual Christmas program.  She is currently the Museum Educator for Midway Village.
Catlin attended Huron High School and graduated from Beloit College in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in History and Russian Language.  In 2009, she received a Master of Arts in Local History and Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Prior to Midway Village, Caitlin worked at Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI and the Macon County Conservation District in Mackinaw City in Michigan until November 2010.  She then worked at the Carl and Mary Koehler History Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, first as the Education Director and then as the Director prior to coming to Midway Village in March of 2016.
Caitlin will be talking about various Victorian Christmas traditions and giving us a chance to learn about this glamorous time using 3-D objects rather than a slide show.  This will be an interesting and informative Christmas program and a chance to bring a guest or prospective member.  You are also encouraged to dress for the season (including ugly Christmas sweaters) to get us into the spirit of the season.  David Byrnes will introduce our presenter and act as Rotary host.

Empty Stocking Volunteers
Thank you to Rotarians: Wray Howard, Dave Byrnes, Linda Gerber, Becky Rundquist and so-to-be Rotarian, Brandy Lavender for volunteering to register kids for the Empty Stocking holiday gift project offered by the Rockford Register Star. Crusader Community Health each year organizes volunteers at its five main locations for kids to sign up for the annual toy giveaway.

Thanks for sharing in the joy of the season and lending a hand to make sure that area children receive a special gift during this holiday!

Dick Rundquist Bell Ringers
$935.88 collected by Rockford Rotary!!!

Thank you to the Rotarians & family members who volunteered to Ring Bells for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle.  The total collected at Woodman's was $462.34 and the total for Schnuck's was $473.54

And a big Thank you Pete and Becky Rundquist who chaired this volunteer opportunity again this year.

This year the Red Kettles were located at Woodman's on McFarland and Schnuck's on Mulford.  As you can see from the picture of Dave McClelland and Dick Leighton this is a fun way to spend two-hours. You can not have a bad day when your being thanked for volunteering and getting to watch young children put money into the Red Kettle.  And if you were one of the lucky Ringers you might have been joined by some students who sang or played Christmas music.

This is one of the wonderful volunteer opportunity that truly keeps you a warm, even if it is cold outside.
New Member Semi-Annual Report
Halfway through our Rotary year is a good time to express our appreciation to the new members and their sponsors who are expanding our club and its service to others.  Just a reminder that our new members are wearing red Rotary name badges until each person has completed a few requirements that are designed to acclimate everyone to Rotary as quickly as possible.  Upon completion of these requirements, each new member will receive the customary blue badge.
We ask the sponsors to assist their new member(s) in completing the red badge program soon so that the temporary red badges can be re-issued to future new members hopefully joining us in the new calendar year. We also encourage all club members, including our new members, to invite and sponsor more people in the months ahead to enrich Rockford Rotary.
