Past District Governor Ruth Lee will speak to the club about the Rotary International Foundation and some of it's programs. Ruth served District 6420 as Governor during the 2013-2014 Rotary year. Since then, she has served Rotary and District 6420 in many different roles and continues today as a spokesperson for the Rotary Foundation.
This is a very informative program not only for new members, but will also serve as a reminder for older members. It will also be an excellent opportunity to bring a guest or prospective member.

Golden Apple is seeking volunteers to read and score portfolios submitted by Golden Apple teacher nominees. This is the next step that comes after a teacher is nominated for a Golden Apple Award. Teachers write a portfolio that includes a personal essay, they tell us about their teaching background, and volunteer readers help us to read and score them. Each portfolio is read 6 times and the scores lead us to narrowing down our field of candidates to 20 finalists. New volunteers are required to attend a training from 4 - 5 p.m. on Friday December 1 at Rockford University where you can pick up your portfolios to read or if that doesn't work into your schedule, we can find a time to meet one on one for a training. Evaluations are due back to us that Tuesday, Dec. 5 and can be dropped off or emailed or faxed. Lots of reading -- but interesting and valuable reading. Contact Golden Apple at 815-226-4180 or jennifer@goldenappleofrockford.com with questions or to sign up to volunteer.
Have you ever wanted to contact a member by phone or email but didn't have their information? Well, if you have a smart phone or iPad you can get the Rockford Rotary Directory and other information right on your phone or iPad.
All you need to do is go to your Apple or Android app store and search for the ClubRunner app (The logo will be a white CR with the blue background). When you install this app you will be asked to sign in with your Rockford Rotary member log in. After you log in do this you will automatically be connected to the Rockford Rotary Directory. In addition the member directory, you will be able to see upcoming events, speakers and board meetings, as well as, club executives, board members and committee members. However, there is one issue with the app at this time; the story feature doesn't update, but they are working on that feature.
